Death Café Encourages Open Conversations About Life and Loss

Jul 01, 2026 04:32PM ● By Publisher Chase

A Death Café gathering will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m., July 25, at Chamberlin’s Market in Orlando. The free event is for adults (age 18 or older) to participate in a respectful, informal conversation about death, dying and the many questions that often surround end-of-life experiences. Anyone interested in thoughtful conversation about life, death and everything in between are invited to attend.

Part of a global movement that began in 2011, Death Cafés provide a welcoming space where people can discuss mortality without agendas, presentations or prescribed outcomes. The gatherings are not grief support groups or counseling sessions. Instead, they offer an opportunity for participants to share thoughts, experiences and perspectives in a safe, open environment.

Organizers note that discussing death can help reduce fear and uncertainty while fostering deeper appreciation for life. Conversations often explore topics such as legacy, aging, spirituality, caregiving, funeral traditions and personal reflections on living well. Participants are encouraged to listen, learn from others and engage at their own comfort level.

The event will include coffee, cake and facilitated discussion designed to promote meaningful dialogue and community connection. Organizers say the relaxed setting helps create a comfortable atmosphere for exploring a topic that is often considered difficult or taboo.

Location: 4924 E. Colonial Dr., Orlando. For more information, email [email protected] or call Amina at 505-977-9368.
