Finding Balance and Laughs This Mother’s Day

Apr 30, 2025 06:00AM ● By Daralyn Chase

May has tiptoed in, gracefully tripping over my favorite slippers and reminding me once again to slow down and savor the simple joys. It’s that delightful time when we pause to honor women's wellness and celebrate Mother’s Day, perhaps by treating ourselves to an uninterrupted shower, or—wild thought—a whole chocolate bar without sharing.

As the mom of four boys, I've learned to find humor amid chaos. When they were young, Mother's Day was a spectacle involving lopsided pancakes and flowers freshly liberated from our neighbor’s garden (sorry, Mrs. Johnson!). Now, my "boys" tower over me, but their heartfelt, slightly imperfect gestures still melt me completely.

Speaking of restoration and balance (two things every mom dreams about more than a spotless kitchen), our feature "Restoring Balance Post COVID" dives into compassionate strategies for healing persistent symptoms. We've all felt a bit like circus jugglers these past few years, managing health scares, family needs and work demands. This insightful article offers practical, holistic approaches to help us find firm ground again, reminding us that resilience is indeed our superpower.

Meanwhile, "Finding Alignment to Your True Purpose" gently nudges us to reclaim our dreams and aspirations beyond endless laundry piles and Zoom meetings. This piece is especially dear to me; it's a soulful invitation to women and teen girls alike to live authentically, without apologies or regrets. I confess, after reading it, I might have tried asserting my "true purpose" was a weekend alone at the spa—Scott lovingly reminded me that's called a vacation.

Throughout this issue, you'll discover rich offerings that celebrate and uplift women's health. From balancing hormones to embracing nutritious cravings, we’re reminded that wellness isn't a luxury—it's essential.

Scott and I warmly encourage you to take a moment this month to laugh, breathe deeply and perhaps steal a few more minutes under the covers. Remember, nurturing yourself is the best gift you can offer those you love.

With joy, laughter and a little grace,

Daralyn and Scott Chase
